Japanese name: 透かしあみのキャップ

Tools/Materials:

  • Yarn: 85g (128m) of 4) 13-black 5) 1-off white
  • Needles: Japanese size 13 (6.0mm)
  • Hook: Japanese size 8/0 (5.0mm) - for flower at crown

Schematic Notes:

  1. Make a long-tail cast-on; this counts as row 1. The instructions suggest using two needles held together, but one needle should be sufficient if casting on loosely.
  2. Work in stockinette pattern plus eyelet rows.
  3. Instruction for closing up the hat top are on p.14.
  4. Crochet the flower base and attach it to the crown.
  5. Make the flower center the same way as a pompom, but do not cut the strands after tying the center. Attach to the center of the flower base, and fluff out the loops.
