This is the pattern on the book’s cover. Construction is similar to a rectangular poncho with side seams added.

Chart correction: There appear to be typos in the chart for Round 8. Each cluster should be lined up 2 rows above a dc stitch; on the chart, a few clusters are shown offset by one stitch.

Shaded rounds:
Repeats are irregular on rounds 15 and 27. On the long sides only, *3sc in the space below, sc in the next sc/dc below* for the first 6 and last 6 meshes, and repeat 3-4-4-3 in between.

Translated directions:

1. Make the foundation chain and work the charted pattern stitch for the body. When working the final round, join the sides as indicated in the chart.
2. Work a round of sc around the neck opening.
