The Picasso yarn from Lana Grossa is one of the most beautiful yarns that they have done this season. The luscious fibers are twisted set inside a very fin nylon cage. With the fibers remaining open, when they yarn is finished and gets wet, it expands and spreads the cage giving you a finished yarn that is thick but not heavy at all. The back is knit from side to side so the back has vertidal stripes. (Picasso is a space dyed yarn and all of the color changes are at random.) The back does not go all the way up from bottom to shoulder. It is shorter. The fronts/back yoke are done by working with the opposite color and worked a long scarf with a ribbed edge. The non ribbed edge is sewn to the side edge of the back to create a joined back/front. Part is left open for sleeve. Back neck fills in the missing yoke and creates the shawl collar. You continue to join down the other side edge to create the opposite front. The sleeves are knit in the same color as the back. This jacket is a work of art in so many ways.
