Sometimes you just want something easy to knit. A pattern that is fast to memorize; a project that you can pick up and put down without fear of losing your place. Those were the parameters that I was working with when I designed A Good Scarf and the resulting design seemed to strike a chord with knitters. So much so that I decided that I should rework the pattern to create a blanket with the same features.

In keeping with the fast and fun theme I decided to create a wooby. Now, you might not know it by that name but I think you’ll recognize the concept. It is a security blanket, the one that the child will carry around with them for what seems like forever. Big enough to cuddle but small enough to not drag the ground when in a stroller. Plus, it is the perfect size to knit up quickly for a new arrival!

I chose to use the extra large skein of Miss Babs Yowza in the color Wandflower because it felt like a perfect gender neutral color and I’d only have to weave in two ends. This 100% superwash merino is soft enough for baby and will stand up to repeated, gentle hand washing.

This pattern includes tips on how to slip the stitches correctly and how to modify the edge if you don’t care for the look of a slipped stitch selvedge. Also included is guidance on substituting yarn weights if you want to use something different.

The pattern is entirely written, no charts.

Stitches used: knit, purl, slip, slip with yarn in front (optional)

There is a p2tog in the bind-off but if you want to substitute a different bind-off then that will work fine!
