My “A symmetric Loop” is an easy to do knitting project that leads to a result of complex geometry.
Shaped as a trapezium and worked seamlessly, thanks to its construction combined with negative easy, it will fit perfectly around your neck and on your shoulders winding them in a warm embrace.
That’s also why, despite being a one size piece, it fits most.
Shown in 104 cm/41 inch shoulder and a head circumference of 56 cm/22 inch.
In any case, you can easily modify the pattern to be larger or smaller adding or reducing repeat sections and/or cast on stitches.

MATERIALS

Yarn
1 hank of Tandem by West Wool (10% Texel, 90% Falkland Merino), DK weight, 230 m/250 yds per 100g hank.
Color: Prince.
or
3 skeins of Drops Karisma (100% wool), DK weight, 100 m/109 yds per 50g skein.
Color: dark grey blue.

Can be also made with other different yarn but in this case yardage and dimensions might change.

Needles
3.5 mm/US 4 straight needles
80 cm 3.5 mm/31” US 4 circular needle
Feel free to use the needle size you need to achieve gauge.

Other Notions
Hook 2.5 mm/US C, waste yarn, tapestry needle, measure tape, scissors.

GAUGE

22 sts by 58 rows in 10 cm/4” in 3 rows knit and 3 rows purl in West Wool Tandem, unblocked.

21 sts by 52 rows in 10 cm/4” in 3 rows knit and 3 rows purl in Drops Karisma, unblocked.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

West Wool Tandem
base 1 52.50 cm/20.5”,
base 2 14.0 cm/5.5”,
height 17.0 cm/6.7”.

Drops Karisma
base 1 56 cm/22”,
base 2 16.0 cm/6.3”,

NOTES

Techniques include: provisional cast on with crochet hook, increases, decreases, slipped stitches.

“A symmetric Loop” e’ un capo facile da eseguire ma il risultato che otterrete sara’ veramente particolare.
Ha la forma di un trapezio ed e’ lavorato senza cuciture.
Grazie alla sua particolare costruzione e all’elasticita’ del punto utilizzato, si adatta perfettamente intorno al collo e alle spalle avvolgendole in un caldo abbraccio.
Nella foto circonferenza spalle 104 cm e circonferenza testa 56 cm.
Pur essendo misura unica ben si adatta a piu’ taglie.
In ogni caso, il pattern puo’ venire facilmente ingrandito o ridotto aggiungendo o togliendo una o piu’ sezioni del repeat (3 ferri a diritto, 3 ferri a rovescio) e/o punti di avvio.

Filato
1 matassa di West Wool Tandem (10% Texel, 90% Falkland Merino), formato DK, 230 m per matassa di 100g.
Colore: Prince.
Viene usata quasi tutta! Se volete ingrandirlo o se volete stare piu’ tranquilli acquistatene una seconda.
oppure
3 gomitoli di Drops Karisma (100% lana), formato DK, 100 m per gomito di 50g.
Colore: 37 - Blu verde scuro.

Può anche essere lavorato con filati differenti ma in questo caso la quantità di filato necessaria e le dimensioni del capo possono variare.

Ferri
Ferri 3,5 mm
Ferri circolari 3,5 mm lunghezza 80 cm
o della misura necessaria per ottenere il campione.

Altro
Uncinetto 2,5 mm, scarto di filo, ago da lana a punta arrotondata, metro a nastro, forbici.

CAMPIONE

22 maglie e 58 ferri corrispondono ad un campione di
10cm x 10cm lavorato 3 ferri a diritto e 3 ferri a rovescio con il filato West Wool Tandem, senza bloccaggio.

21 maglie e 51 ferri corrispondono ad un campione di
10cm x 10cm lavorato 3 ferri a diritto e 3 ferri a rovescio con filato Drops Karisma, senza bloccaggio.
