A Tinder Pouch to Knit
Interweave SKU: EP8833
Knit Nancy Bush’s Tinder Pouch inspired by traditional Swedish pouches used to carry items for building fires while traveling. (Interweave)
Called eldpung in Swedish, fire or tinder pouches were used to carry a steel or striker, a bit of flint, and some material such as wood shavings or dried moss with which to start a fire. A tinder pouch was used while traveling or working away from home and would have been carried in a pocket, to be handy when needed.
Technical notes on twined or two-end knitting are given on page 22.
