Abellona Shawl
Abellona: Danish feminine form of Apollo, the sun god.
After the dark rich colours of winter, welcome in some sunshine with clean spring florals.
Crocheted using ‘Titus’ 4-ply wool/alpaca blend from ‘baa ram ewe’, the result is so warm and comforting without being heavy, and the colours are light and fresh, making this the perfect spring accessory.
‘Titus’ has fantastic texture, yet is still a dream to crochet with.
I have used 5 x 100g skeins of this luxurious yarn, but if you wanted to make the pattern in a single colour you would need 300g.
This shawl really does benefit from being well blocked.
The edges extend beyond where a simple triangular-shaped shawl would, to give you extra fabric with which to wrap yourself up in. Whether you wear it with the point at the back (capelet style), or with the point at the front (kerchief style), you can comfortably fit the shawl under a winter coat, or wear it as a statement piece on top of a jumper.
This pattern is written in UK terminology. If you need pointers for converting it to US terms please just ask, thanks.
Please do let me know if you find any non sequiturs or mistakes in the text, thank you
