The Aberdovey Gansey is very much inspired by the traditional fishing ganseys knit up and down the coasts of the UK and worn by hard-working fisherfolk.

The front and back have the same patterning at the chest area. The shoulder gives the appearance of a traditional dropped shoulder, but there is a little shaping both in the body and in the sleeve head to make it easier to wear. The sleeves have the same cross/diamond pattern running up them as runs up the center of the chest. Stitch patterns are charted.

This is a seamed pattern, the pieces are worked separately seamed together after which the neckline is picked up and worked last.
