Acromantula
Even if you aren’t arachnophobic like Ron, you have to admit, Hagrid’s eight-legged friend, Aragog, and his family of huge spider-like creatures are pretty intimidating! But Acromantula the pattern is much less frightening - so get your “Monster Book of Monsters” ready, and don’t forget to stroke the spine first: It’s time for the fourth pattern in The Hogwarts Library Collection!
This spiderweb-like shawl wraps all around you – but safely and without the icky stickiness of a real web! Or you can give your Acromantula more texture with your favorite mohair for an extra fluffy web.
And if you are really into the Dark Forest vibe, you can make your own little pet Aragog as a super fun addition to your shawl - check out the pattern for Itsy Bitsy Spider by Lara Breese!

About the pattern:
Acromantula is a pattern suitable for an adventurous beginner. It is worked flat and features lots of yarn overs for that spider web look, and twisted stitches for stability. The finished shawl is completely reversible and forms an overlapping spiral that will easily drape around your neck.
Materials:
546 yds of fingering weight yarn
The sample was made using:
1 skein of Wollmeise Blend (150g / 546 yds) in color ’12 Mg (Magnesium)’
2.75mm / US 2- 40”or longer circular needle
Darning needle
Finished Measurements: About 165” long at outer edge; 20” deep - after blocking
Gauge: Not crucial for this project, as long as the twisted stitches hold their shape between the yarnovers.
