Yarn Fibra Natura Kingston Tweed (50% wool, 25% alpaca, 25% viscose; 194 yds 177 m/1¾ oz 50 g): #120 Sapphire (A); #117 Petalite (B), 1 skein each. Yarn distributed by Universal Yarn.

Needles Sizes 5 (3.75 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); size G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook; tapestry needle.

Gauge 26 sts and 24 rnds = 4” in St st over charted colorwork pattern using larger needle with two strands of yarn held together.

• These wine bags are knit in the round from the bottom up, beginning with an adjustable ring cast-on. Stitches are increased to the desired circumference, then a stranded colorwork pattern is worked throughout the body of the bag. Ribbing and a contrasting I-cord Bind-off finish the top of the bag. A crochet chain tie is threaded through eyelets at the base of the ribbing for a secure closure.

• The smaller bag will fit a standard wine bottle. The larger bag will fit a standard champagne bottle.

• The bags are worked with two strands of yarn held together throughout. One skein of each yarn is enough to make two of the smaller wine bags. When working with a single skein of each color, wind each skein into two balls of equal size for ease when holding two strands together. For two larger bags, or a set of each size, two skeins of each yarn is needed.

• The charts are worked using the stranded method. Always pick up the background color over the pattern color and pick up the pattern color from under the background color. Keep floats loose. For floats longer than four stitches, tack stranded yarn on the wrong side of the work.
