A simple and fun first time dog sweater made holding sock yarn double, perfect for chilly morning walks.

This pattern is a really quick and easy knit, intended for beginners and for collectors of beautiful sock yarn – and there’s a matching sock pattern for you!

This sweater is knit top down, in the round. The armholes are created by briefly knitting flat, and then back to knitting in the round again. Sleeves are picked up and knit after, but there are never any live stitches to pick up!

Sizes:
XS, S, (M, L, XL) for a chest circumference of;
11-13”, 13-16” (16-20”, 20-24”, 24-28)“.

The sizes are based off the back and chest measurements, (taken across the widest part of the back and at the largest part of the rib cage). The armholes are generous – bigger is better when it comes to armholes!

Yarn:
This is an estimate, the final yardage will vary based on your yarn choice and tension.
For the samples knit in a size L, a single skein’s worth of sock yarn (400y / 100g) and two 20g minis. 1 skein of sock yarn and 2 minis will work for XS through L, and XL will require a second skein of sock yarn and two additional minis.

A fun variegated fingering weight yarn, like Cascade Heritage Prints is a great choice for the colour effect.
