The Advent KALendar is a shawl knitalong will be published in 24 daily clues, from Dec 1-24, 2018. Each day you will get a piece of the pattern to enjoy, and by Christmas you will have a completed shawl.

The shawl design is inspired by Buyan, the mythical home of Dažbog (who inspired the 2016 Advent KALendar) and the Zoryas (who inspired the 2015 Advent KALendar).

Buyan is a mysterious island in the ocean that has the ability to appear and disappear with the tides. It is the home of the Zoryas, and the solar god Dažbog along with the Western, Northern and Eastern wind Dagoda.

In the center of Buyan, there is a brilliant white stone alatyr, stone of all the stones. According to legend, alatyr is a magical stone with healing rivers flow from beneath it. It marks the center of the universe and if found, will grant you happiness for all time.
In the early morning, Zorya Utrennyaya (the Morning Star) sails in a golden canoe with silver paddles. Rest of a day she is sitting on altyr.

Yarn requirements:
Two contrasting colours of fingering weight yarn.
Colour 1: 430 yds/393 m, 100 g
Colour 2: 430 yds/393 m, 114 g
