Aeris (Latin for copper) is an asymmetrical triangular wrap that takes full advantage of the luxurious yarn with which it was knit. Eyelets, textured stitches, and garter stitch pop in this merino and cashmere blend, which is so soft and light that it’s difficult not to wear it at all times. Strategically placed increases give this shawl its off-kilter triangular appearance, which is long enough to wrap comfortably around ones torso without too much length at the center point, or too many ends dangling in the way. The simple stitch patterns keep the knitting fun and, in worsted weight yarn, this is quite a quick knit as well.

Fun Pattern Mods:
For a stripey shawl, use a different color for Rows 10-12 in each section as well as for the bind off. You can also add an i-cord bind off to emphasize a contrasting color at the edge of the shawl.

For a larger shawl (as seen knit by jvancott and thepluckyknitter), repeat Sections 1+2 a total of 3 times, rather than just 2 (as seen in the original sample).

Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles, at least 24”/ 60 cm long, or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge:
15 sts & 24 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Stockinette st
15 sts & 29 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Textured Copper pattern, blocked
