Áfangi (means (leg of) journey) sweater is a sporty outdoor garment, which will keep you warm even when the temperature falls below zero. The model is still feminine and fitting.
Áfangi is made of double Plötulopi, but with small needles, so the texture is quite tight and resistant to wind. The back side of the sweater is a bit longer, so it will cover your back better when for example hiking, skiing or riding.

You can also use single Lettlopi, the result will be lighter and not so weather resistant, but warm for sure.
There are two versions of this sweater, the basic version has a steeked collar and uses short-row technique and intarsia technique. The easier version is similar to most Icelandic sweaters with no extra skills needed. You can also combine parts of these two versions to suit your own taste and skills.
The yarn used is double Plötulopi, but you can use Lettlopi instead just as well.

Áfangi sweater is quick to knit. As with many Icelandic sweaters, the sleeves are knitted first, followed by the body, and the yoke comes last, combining everything into a completed garment. You will have no trouble knitting with this pattern!
The wool of Icelandic sheep has adapted to the harsh conditions of the northern island country and is characterized by its ability to withstand wind and moisture. In Iceland, garments made of this wool are used both indoors and outdoors, depending on their thickness. Wearing this Icelandic sweater, you can go out in temperatures below zero just as easily as in a drizzle, especially once you have made the fabric ”bloom” with finishing touches and wear.
If the wool’s properties in outdoor activities are not essential to your clothes, you can replace the wool of Icelandic sheep with any local alternative you like. Always ensure your gauge matches the pattern by knitting a swatch.

Áfangi -pusero (tarkoittaa matkaa tai etappia) on urheilullinen ulkoiluvaate, joka pitää sinut lämpimänä vaikka lämpötila putoaa alle nollan. Malli on silti naisellinen ja istuva.
Áfangi on valmistettu kaksinkertaisesta Plötulopista, mutta pienillä puikoilla, joten rakenne on melko tiivis ja tuulenpitävä. Puseron takaosa on hieman pidempi, joten se peittää selän paremmin esimerkiksi vaeltaessa, hiihtäen tai ratsastaessa. Voit myös käyttää Lettlopia yksinkertaisena, lopputulos on kevyempi ja ei niin säänkestävä, mutta lämmin varmasti.

Tästä puserosta on kaksi versiota; alkuperäisessä versiossa käytetään icord-aloitusta, lyhennettyjä kerroksia, intarsiatekniikkaa ja siinä on pystykaulus, joka on edestä auki. Helpompi versio on samanlainen kuin useimmat islantilaiset villapaidat ilman ylimääräisiä kikkailuja. Voit myös yhdistää osia näistä kahdesta versiosta oman makusi ja taitosi mukaan.

Molemmat versiot ovat on nopeat neuloa. Kuten monien islantilaisten villapaitojen kohdalla, hihat neulotaan ensin, sen jälkeen vartalo, ja kaarroke on viimeinen, mikä yhdistää kaiken valmiiksi vaatteeksi. Sinulla ei ole vaikeuksia neuloa tällä mallilla!

Mikäli ulkoiluominaisuudet eivät ole vaatteelle olennaisen tärkeitä, voi islanninlampaan villan tilalle valita minkä tahansa muunkin kotimaisen vastineen.
