Affirmations Hat
Construction: this hat is knit from the bottom up, starting with the double brim, which can be knit two ways. After the brim, lateral braids and mock cables with eyelets make up the rest of the accessory.
Pattern includes written instructions only.
Sizes: Preemie (Baby, Toddler, Teen)(Adult S, Adult M, Adult L)
To fit an actual head circumference of 12 (15, 18, 20)(21, 22.5, 24) in / 31 (39, 46, 51)(54, 58, 61) cm.
Materials:
Yarn:
Nutiden by Höner och Eir ( 563 yards / 515 meters per 100g; 100% wool, single ply pre-yarn).
Yarn held single.
Color: Lugnet
Note: if using this yarn, I include tips in the pattern of how to make it easier to work with it.
Please feel free to use any DK weight yarn available to you, as well as Fingering weight held double, or Fingering weight held together with a strand of mohair.
Estimated amounts of DK weight yarn needed: 45 (70, 110, 150)(170, 185, 200) yards / 42 (65, 101, 138)(156, 170, 183) meters.
Note: this yardage applies to each of the strands you hold together, if using Fingering held with another strand of Fingering or a strand of mohair.
Needles: 3.75 mm circular needles with the cable to accommodate sts for your hat circumference, or a set of DPNs.
Note: please pick a needle size to obtain gauge.
Notions:
Crochet hook in the same or similar size to your needle size (for provisional CO and for connecting ends of a lateral braid in the round).
Waste yarn (preferably an easy to unravel kind)
Stitch marker (BOR)
1 removable marker
Measuring tape
Darning needle
Scissors
Gauge: 18 sts and 20 rounds per 4 in / 10 cm, in stockinette stitch knit in the round, blocked.
