The pattern for this colorful tea cozy employs a clever (and challenging) combination of color weaving, intarsia and a ruche technique to create thickness in the body. The ‘dreads’ on the top can be knitted or crocheted in matching rainbow colors.

To suit a 6 to 8 cup (40 oz. / 1.2 litre) teapot with round body and low, dome-shaped lid. 19“ (49 cm) circumference. 15“ (38 cm) vertically from base, across lid, to base on the opposite side. Tips are provided for making adjustments to suit differently shaped teapots.

The cozy has 10 bands of color selected for rainbow effect, and a neutral color base. In KnitPicks Brava the following are recommended: Fairy Tale, Eggplant, Celestial, Marina, Grass, Alfalfa, Canary, Orange, Red, Wine; plus Cobblestone Heather for the base. The actual yardage used in each color is very much less than a 100 gram ball.
