After Rain
The eye-catching After Rain scarf has a bold geometric pattern which combines two popular craft ideas: crochet granny squares and patchwork quilts.
The pattern features classic granny motifs and two-color granny motifs, which look like two triangles in a square. Changing colors is quick and easy with the help of a photo tutorial on the last page.
To make the process even more comfortable, no sewing is required. The join-as-you-go method will save you time and allow you to be sure your scarf is the size you want before finishing.
In addition to instructions and charts, the pattern also includes all designer tools you will need to create your own unique scarf:
- eight extra layouts to explore some of the many varieties of geometric patterns possible with the yardage provided for each design;
- empty layout grids as your sketchpad to colorize;
- an explanation how to calculate the yardage for your own template.
MATERIALS
- Yarn: Fine Merino by Yarn Stories, 100% fine merino, 4 ply, 195 yd (178 m) per 50 g ball, 4 balls in Cream, 1 ball each in Primrose, Raspberry, Rouge and Spring Green
- Hook: US D (3.25 mm)
- Two stitch markers
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
GAUGE
- Three rounds of standard granny square = 2⅜’’ x 2⅜’’ (6 cm x 6 cm)
- Gauge is not crucial for this design. Bear in mind that if your gauge is different than the stated, your yardage requirements and finished dimensions will change.
FINISHED SIZE
- 15’’ (38 cm) wide, 59⅞’’ (152 cm) long
- The size of the scarf can be adjusted by using thinner/thicker yarn, working fewer/more rounds of each square motif or working fewer/more motif blocks.
