Ages Hence
Inspired by the allure of the road less traveled in Robert Frost’s classic poem The Road Not Taken, this shawl is stitched with a lesser-known but truly striking textural yarn. In this reversible lacey shawl, you’ll explore the possibilities of slub yarn with stitches that start with stockinette and branch out with simple lace. Starting on the side, stitches are worked on the bias to enhance the drape. Your yarn will shine in this snuggly style. Pair with a shawl pin for a look that will keep you cozy for ages hence.
Materials
840 yd/ 768 m of fingering weight slub yarn
US# 4 / 3.5mm needles
2 stitch markers
2 end minders (for tidying loose ends)

The Stitch Not Taken
by Michele Stead
Two stitches diverged on sticks of wood,
And sorry I could not pick up both
And be one knitter, long I stood
And looked as closely at one as I could
To see the tangle I was loath;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better drape,
Because it was lacey and wanted wear;
Though as for that the knitter there
Had worn them really as a cape,
And both that morning equally lay
In yarns no one had thought to use.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I would ever choose.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two stitches diverged on sticks of wood, and I-
I knit the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
