This slightly long-line cardigan is worked in separate pieces each worked from the bottom up. V-neck shaping on the cardigan fronts are worked after the lace pattern on each side so that shaping is not needed to be worked over the lace pattern at any time. Shoulder shaping is worked using short rows and the shoulders are joined using three needle bind off. Slip stitch mock ribbing is worked at the welt, cuffs and bands at the same time as the body pieces. Large press studs are sewn to the bands with buttons added for decoration.
The cardigan is knitted in Excelana DK 100% British wool from Susan Crawford. The sample shown is knitted in Powdered Egg, a discontinued colour.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lace sections.
The pattern includes 11 sizes to fit the following chest measurements: 76cm(30in), 81cm(32in), 86cm(34in), 92cm(36in), 97cm(38in), 102cm(40in), 107cm(42in), 112cm(44in), 117cm(46cm), 122cm(48in), 127cm(50in).
Can be worn close fitting or slightly over sized as shown in the pattern photographs depending on size chosen to knit.
The model shown is a 34 inch bust and is petite - ie. about 5ft 2in tall and the cardigan being worn is the 38 inch size which has a finished chest size of 42 inches so on this particular model there is 8 inches of ease overall. By choosing the correct size for your bust measurement the pattern allows about 2 inches of positive ease.
