These gorgeous gloves designed by Nancy Bush honor her friend Aire Salmre and introduce readers to the brilliant Estonian technique of roosimine, which means “to decorate with roses.” These gloves were inspired by the many pairs of roositud (rose-patterned) gloves (kindad in Estonian) the designer saw in the Estonian National Museum in Tartu.

Yarn Elemental Affects North American Shetland Fingering (100% North American Shetland wool): #23 rosé (pink; MC), 2 skeins; #15 purple (CC1), #41 dusty red (CC2), #09 wildflower blue (periwinkle; CC3), #33 ciel (grayblue; CC4), #24 violet (lavender; CC5), and #04 lime juice (CC6), 1 mini skein (about 20 yd) each.

Needles Size 00 (1.75 mm): set of five double-pointed. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Note These gloves are worked in the round from the cuff to the tips of the fingers. All knitting is done with the main color (MC). The colorful embellishment is laid in as each round is worked and the MC, knitted above the inlay, locks the inlay strands in place.
