Notes
Because garter stitch looks the same on both sides of the fabric, mark the RS of the piece with a removable marker or scrap yarn. With the RS facing, the zig zag edging will be at the start of RS rows.
Once established, the main zig zag pattern consists of a 24-row repeat, increasing at the beginning of the first 3 RS rows, decreasing at the beginning of the following 6 RS rows, and then increasing again at the start of the next 3 RS rows. The edging stitch count
varies from 2 to 8 stitches.
The increases and decreases that shape the scarf’s crescent body occur on RS rows, after the marker at the end of the zig zag section.
