Needles

Gauge (after blocking)
32 stitches & 44 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in St st with US 1½ / 2.5 mm needle
32 stitches & 45 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in charted stitch pattern with US 1½ / 2.5 mm needle

2 stitch markers (Different from each other. One will indicate the beginning of the round), tapestry needle.

Note
Toe up socks with Judyʼs Magic Cast-On for standard toe and short row heel with adjustable foot length. The needles will be referred to as “top needle” (TN) and “bottom needle” (BN).
The socks can be knitted using the magic loop method or using DPNs.
At the heel turn, the pattern suggests Wrap and Turn Short Rows method, however, you can use other methods, such as German or Shadow Short Rows.
For Version 1, the charted stitch pattern is divided by the St st panels at the sides, while the stitch pattern is arranged around the leg continuously for Version 2.
The embroidery flower motif is worked while knitting. The diagonal textured stitch motif is created with a crochet hook by pulling loops, between the working round and the round a few rounds below. On the chart, the gray circle indicates where to start the flower petal (diagonal textured stitch) and the gray square indicates where to insert the hook.

Note
Judyʼs Magic Cast-Onで作る標準的なつま先と引き返し編みの踵を用いたつま先から編む靴下. パターン内では甲側の針(TN)と足裏の針(BN)として説明している.
マジックループの方法で編んでも4本棒針を用いてもよい. 引き返し編みの方法はドイツ式やシャドーショートローなど, 好みの方法を用いてもよい. バージョン1は脚部分の模様がサイドのメリヤスで分断されており, バージョン2は脚部分が分断無しに総柄になっている.
刺繍の花モチーフは編みながらかぎ針を用いて作っていく. 数周下にかぎ針を入れ糸を引き出して斜めの線を作る. チャートではグレーの丸がかぎ針に持ち替える場所を表し, グレーの長方形がかぎ針を入れる場所を表している.
