Alba is the Scottish Gaelic word for Scotland. Scotland is home to the beautiful (and dangerous) thistle, crisp autumn mornings, and jewel-toned sunrises and sunsets.

This cowl combines the beauty of all of Scotland’s treasures into a unique slipped-stitch design, almost looking like a field of thistles when completed.

So grab your yarn and your needles, and cast on your cowl. Enjoy your Scottish adventure! Happy Knitting!

This cowl is knit using the magic loop method.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, knit through the back loop (ktbl), & slipped stitches.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms.
