These light, lacy cowls are inspired by the summer solstice festival of Alban Hefin or The Light of the Shore festival. They are perfect for wearing on summer evenings or breezy days.

The Alban Hefin festival reminds us of the special significance of places that are “in between” worlds. The seashore is one such place, where the three realms of Earth, Sea and Sky meet. There is great power in places such as these. At this time of year, many of us head for the shore to refresh and relax ourselves. Many of us have sat as the sun goes down, watching the lights of the shore and their reflections in the sea that move and break up as we look towards the horizon. The rows of beaded eyelets and two simple lace patterns are rooted in this inspiration.

This pattern would be good for someone who is new to lace and bead knitting or someone who is looking for a relaxing project to take on holiday.
