This vest has impressive three-dimensional knitted pattern created by open work and twisted stitches. The pattern used is #104 (Alberta) from “Nora Gaughan’s Twisted Stitch Sourcebook” (written by Nora Gaughan, Japanese translated by Tomoko Nishimura).

Starting from the bottom, the front and back are knit separately, and after knitting the side slit, they are joined and knit in the round until armhole where the front and back are knit separately again. The deep slits on the both sides adds stylishness to this vest.

The samples uses cotton blended with linen, but it would be good to knit with wool for colder weather. Or try knitting with your favorite yarn.

◎About this “English Tutorial Pattern”
This pattern was originally made for Japanese knitters to practice knitting with English written patterns. Which means it is written in both English and Japanese. So English speakers can use it as well. However, parts of side notes are only available in Japanese.
