Design Details

Construction Overview

You’ll begin flat, shaping the front and back necklines as you go, then join in the round once the yoke is complete. The body continues in stockinette with an optional long split hem in 2x2 ribbing. Sleeves are picked up and knit in the round, finished with matching rib cuffs. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline for a softly structured 2x2 V-neck collar.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in Yarn Nouveau 4-ply DK Merino in Dark Forest, a soft superwash merino with beautiful drape and crisp stitch definition that lets the clean lines of Alchemist Pullover really shine.

This design works especially well in DK yarns with a smooth finish and enough structure to highlight the neckline, shoulders, and stockinette fabric. Tonal and solid colorways are especially striking here and help the silhouette take center stage.

US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles 16–40” for body
US 6 (4.0 mm) for ribbing

Adjust needle size as needed to achieve gauge.

20 sts x 26 rows = 4” x 4” in stockinette on US 7 (4.5 mm), wet blocked.

Finished Measurements

Alchemist Pullover is meant to be worn with 4–8” (10–20 cm) of positive ease, so it fits comfortably around the body without feeling tight.

To choose your size, measure your full bust and add 4–8” depending on how relaxed you’d like the fit.

For example, if your bust measures 42”, knit the 48” size for 6” of ease. Or if your bust measures 56”, knit the 60” size for 4” of ease.

Choosing a size outside the recommended ease range may result in sleeves, shoulders, and yoke that don’t fit as intended.
