This beanie/skull cap design is inspired by the Alder motif pattern in Andrea Rangel’s Alterknit Stitch Dictionary, which is available in bookstores and libraries. The Alder motif pattern is found on page 25 of the book. With permission from Andrea, the author, the Alder motif pattern is incorporated into this pattern as a chart.

The pattern calls for two skeins of Cascade 220 worsted yarn. The cap requires enough yarn in two colors to create a cap that is approximately 52g (1.8oz) with stranded knitting.
