Two stitch patterns are merged to flow from the hem upward in a flattering asymmetric design that alternately evokes both waterfalls and flames. Versatility is always a key design objective for me – handwork deserves to be worn often and for many years. In this case, what began as a sleeveless shell with a keyhole neckline at the back, became a blouse or tunic in a summery yarn, with the hem pattern reflected in the 3⁄4-sleeves. Worked in the round from the bottom up with optional set-in sleeves and keyhole placement, this pattern works as well in alpaca as in cotton.
