Alexia Shawl
This graceful half-hexagon shawl features ivy-leaf borders, pansies and floral arbor lace motifs, with a toothed lace edging. The shawl is knit beginning at the picot edged neckline and worked through the body, finished off with the knit-on lace edging. The shawl is shaped with two narrow panels with ivy leaves, and three wider pie-shaped panels along the front edges and center back.
Inspired by Gail Carriger’s steampunk heroine from The Parasol Protectorate series, Alexia Tarabotti and late 19th century ladies’ lace parasols, this shawl also features motifs inspired by the brooding Scottish Lord Maccon, and Alexia’s sartorially challenged best-friend, Ivy.
The shawl was knit with just 4 grams of yarn remaining from an 875-yard skein. You may wish to purchase a second skein for insurance. (Or knit the final knit-on border in a contrasting color if you are running short on yarn.)
This pattern was originally available only through the Wooly Wonka Fibers Heroines 2013 club., but is now released to the general public.
