Alice's Garden
Alice’s Garden is cabled scarf inspired by my great-grandmother’s Irish roots and love of gardening. Simplicity creates complexity as weaving textures form a rhythmic pattern beneath your needles. Stay warm all winter in a cool, neutral tone or choose the bright color of a favorite springtime flower. This pattern includes both full written instructions and stitch charts.
Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok (100% wool, 50 g, 123 yds). 4 skeins (200 g, 492 yards), sample in Lilac Bloom #1325. Worsted weight yarns may be substituted, approx. 500 yards.
Gauge: 28 stitches and 30 rows = 4” (10 cm) in cable pattern on larger needles, blocked.
Needles: US 6 (4 mm) for main fabric and US 5 (3.75 mm) for ribbing.
Dimensions (after blocking): 76” (193 cm) long, 7.25” (18.5 cm) wide.
Notions: cable needle, tapestry needle, stitch markers (optional).
Techniques: knit, purl, twisted stitches, basic cables.
Note: The sample knit used four complete skeins. It is easy to adjust the length of your scarf to accommodate variable yarn quantities and gauges. If your gauge is different, you may require more yarn to knit a full-length scarf.
