This fair isle hat features a Swedish influenced flower motif and is suitable for beginner fair isle knitters. I really love how the flower stems “grow” from the k2, p1 brim. I designed this to have just a touch of slouch, but you could easily increase the slouchiness factor by knitting more before starting the crown decreases or knitting less if you don’t want any slouch at all. It is a fun and quick knit, with just enough fair isle to keep it interesting. It is the perfect hat to perk up your winter wardrobe.

Finished Size 19” circumference x 8.5” crown to brim; hat is meant to be worn with 2” of negative ease.

Yarn Knit Picks Capra DK, 85% Merino Wool, 15% Cashmere; 123yds/50g, 1 skein each: MC Cream, CC1 Caviar, CC2 Harbor.

Yarn Knits in Class BFL DK Bundle, 100% Blue Faced Leicester; 375yds/6oz: Bonfire.

Needles Size 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular, size 6 (4mm) 16” circular and double-pointed needles (dpns), or size to obtain gauge.

Notions Stitch marker(s), tapestry needle, pompom maker (optional).

Gauge 22 sts and 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) on larger needles, in the round and blocked.

Notes: When knitting with two colors, make sure you stretch out your stitches on the right hand needle before changing colors. This keeps your floats nice and loose and prevents your knitting from puckering. When working the chart, read all rows from right to left, knitting all stitches.
