The brioche fabric of this cowl makes it extra warm and squishy. It is worked in one or two colours in the round, this makes it a great beginner project for practising brioche. Still, there is some variation in the pattern, which brings the background columns to the front and then moves them back again. For this reason, the pattern remains straightforward, while it keeps you interested in what happens next.

The wrapped around i-cord crunches up the cowl a bit and adds some visual interest. The Pattern comes in two options each for width and height.

Materials:
4 mm/US 6 knitting needles, either a set of dpns, a short circular or a circular long enough for magic loop - whatever your preferred method for knitting in the round.

Stitch marker to mark beginning of the round.
Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

one-colour: DK weight yarn, 200-300 m/274-328 yds.
Sample (wide, short): Woolly Hugs Sky, 250 m/274 yds

two-colour: DK weight yarn, MC 120 - 170 m/131 - 186 yds, CC 100 - 150 m/110 - 164 yds
Sample (wide, tall): Bamboo Pop, black (MC) 156 m/170 yds, purple (CC) 115 m/126 yds

Gauge:
16 sts and 46 rows = 10 cm/4” in brioche pattern, lightly blocked.

Gauge is not crucial here, but it might affect the size of your finished cowl and how much yarn you need.
