INSPIRATION
This blanket was a design challenge set by Simply Crochet magazine in Spring 2023. I was asked to come up with a project inspired by two skeins of beautiful hand dyed sock yarn. As soon as these beautiful colours arrived, I immediately thought of the beautiful Almond Blossom paintings by Vincent Van Gogh. Once I researched the paintings I discovered he had in fact gifted the paintings to his beloved nephew as a baby, as he felt the blossom signified new life and hope in the Spring; the perfect theme for a baby blanket! The challenge was to just use the two 100g skeins, which is why this blanket is pram sized. A great little project for a precious newborn, if (like me) you are seduced by the beautiful hanks of hand dyed yarns but not sure what to make with them! For a larger blanket you could use a DK weight yarn and larger hook or make additional squares and adjust the border repeat accordingly.
