“To look almost pretty is an acquisition of higher delight to a girl who has been looking plain the first fifteen years of her life than a beauty from her cradle can ever receive.” These words from Northanger Abbey are the inspiration for these stockings, which are just almost pretty and would become Catherine Morland very well. The basic ribbing pattern is interrupted with a chevron lace panel that runs to the outer ankle, where it is met by another chevron lace panel that crosses to the inside of the foot.
