Worked differently than most knitted hats, the cleverly constructed Alongside Slouch begins with a narrow garter-stitch panel worked back and forth. Then, stitches are picked up along each side of the center panel, and the crown is shaped with increases. The other side of the hat mirrors the first side, with crown decreases, then side stitches joined to the center panel using short-rows and a perpendicular join. There is no “front” or “back” to this hat—wear it any way you like.
