Last year my dad asked me to make him a scarf. He picked out a stitch pattern he liked and we picked out yarn. A few months later, before I started the scarf, I was showing him the colors he picked, which included a dark blue. He asked me why there wasn’t any maize to go with it. I went in search of new yarn so that his scarf would be maize and blue. My dad is always a Michigan Wolverine. Whatever your allegiance, I hope this scarf will help you show your true colors. (And from my dad, “Go Blue!”)

The pattern is very flexible, you can adjust the length and width of your scarf, and you can use any yarn weight from fingering to bulky. Most importantly, if you add fringe, there are no ends to sew in!

Size: 60” / 152.5 cm long and just over 6” / 15.5 cm wide without fringe. Fringe adds approximately 12” / 30.5 cm to the length. Both length and width are easily adjustable.

The scarf uses only basic stitches and a one row repeat. There is also a picture tutorial for the scarf and fringe.

I made the scarf with We Crochet/ Knit Pick’s Hawthorne and an E (3.5 mm) hook. The scarf can be made with yarn of a different weight and corresponding hook.

Approximate yardage: 595 yards (544 m) without fringe, 670 yards (613 m) with fringe.

• Yardage without fringe: For the given color pattern, you will need 175 yards (160 m) of each main color (1 and 4) and 115 yards (105 m) of the other two colors (2 and 3). Each stripe uses approximately 15 yards (14 m).
• Yardage with fringe: For the given color pattern, you will need 200 yards (183 m) of each main color (1 and 4) and 135 yards (123 m) of the other two colors (2 and 3). Each stripe uses approximately 16 yards (15 m).
