Amaterasu
When I think of fall returning to New Orleans it’s with great excitement that I realize I can start wearing my hand knit socks with vigor again. After a summer full of flip flops and sandals my feet long for the feel of little purl bumps. September and October can still be pretty hot though and not every day is going to be wool worthy. That’s when I spotted this new Panda Silk yarn at my lys. One touch and I surrendered. I knew I had to wrap my tootsies in some of this stuff. The warm oranges and yellows had me thinking of beautiful sunsets. Amaterasu (wiki link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amaterasu) is the Japenese mythological sun goddess.
This lace pattern is pretty stretchy and the yarn has lots of drape so I worked these up on size 0 needles to give the sock a little more body and also because I found the Panda Silk to be on the thin side. If you substitute sock yarns I would look for something on thinner side to match the gauge of the Panda Silk.
