Minnesota, the Land of Lakes was the inspiration behind this colorful shawl. Growing up I was surrounded by the glistening waters and majestic pines of Twin Cities. Although I no longer live there, Minnesota still has a piece of my heart! Dontcha know?

Amazing Lakes It is an elongated, asymmetrical triangular shawl with a curved top edge. This is a simple mosaic pattern, easy to knit even by somebody who has no experience with color work. Mosaic is one of the fun, magical color-work techniques. It looks like a lot of work, but only one color is worked at a time, and the pattern is created simply by slipping the stitches in the other color you are not working. yah, you betcha!!!

Original Shawl knit in-
Yarn: Baah Yarns La Jolla (100% Superwash Merino 400 yds/115 grams)
Main Color (MC): Gray is Gray 400 yards,

-One each of the following- 1 mini-skein 38 grams in -
Contrast Color 1 (CC1): Baia, -Contrast Color 2 (CC2): Mystique,
Contrast Color 3 (CC3): Maldives, -Contrast Color 4 (CC4): Blue Topaz

Black & White Version
Yarn: Baah Yarns La Jolla (100% Superwash Merino 400 yds/115 grams)
Main Color (MC): Black Pearl, 400 yards, 1 skein
Contrast Color 1 (CC1): La Perla, 300 yards,
One mini-skein 38 grams in- (CC2) Allure

Needles: US 4/ 3.5mm, US 6/4mm for bind off

Notions: Stitch markers (optional, but good for marking repeats), Tapestry needle, T-pins and blocking wires for blocking

Gauge: 24 stitches = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.

Finished measurements: 80” x 19” deep Measurements taken after blocking.

Construction: This is an asymmetrical shawl worked from edge to edge. It begins with a small number of stitches. Increases and decreases are used to create the shape of the shawl as it expands in width.
