Amigurumi Springbok
The Springbok is made using spirals and rounds (closed with slip stitches) and makes use of the magic ring and invisible decreases, as well as colour changes.
The written pattern is in UK terminology, but since only the double crochet is used it is easy to convert to US terminology. Simply use single crochet throughout.
You will need
2 balls of Vinnis Colour Nikkim 100% Cotton Yarn colour way Sand (578)
1 ball each of Vinnis Colour Nikkim 100% Cotton Yarn colour way Chestnut (503), Mahogany (557) and Bottle Green (594). You can substitute another DK yarn with approximately 119m/50g. (If the yarn is substituted, choose one that does not stretch, as this will impact the shape of the rhino. Using yarn of a different weight will change the size.)
3.5mm and 4mm crochet hook, or appropriate size for correct tension
One pair of 12mm safety eyes
1 safety pin used as a stitch marker
Fibrefill
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Springbok difficulty: intermediate
NOTE:
There were errors in the head and body in the published pattern, these have been corrected in the online version.
As an apology I have added directions on how to change the springbok into a unicorn.
You will need 2 balls of Vinnis Colours Serina in Grey and 1 ball in Light Aqua and one pair or 9mm safety eyes for the unicorn.
