Mareep has always been one of my favorite Pokemon. I mean, what knitter wouldn’t love a cute, fluffy sheep Pokemon? After several false starts on this design (I even ripped an early design out halfway through!) I eventually sat and listened to the yarn, it whispered that it wanted to be this half-circle shape that would let its colors shift and change in gentle, fluffy stitches. The name “Ampharos” is the final evolution of Mareep, and felt very appropriate!

MATERIALS
Needles: US 4 (3.5mm) 32”
Yarn: Fingering Weight yarn, Color A: 425 yards, Color B: 430 yards
(Sample is made with: Color A - Fully Spun Sock in Mareep, Color B - Kelbourne Woolens Perennial in Natural)
This pattern is ideal for variegated and gradient-dyed yarns! For the contrast edge, I recommend a fingering weight yarn with good drape and a slight halo (such as yarn containing alpaca or mohair).
