Ancient Gemstones Shawl
The colors of the Ancient Gemstones Shawl are reminiscent of gorgeous minerals sparkling in late-summer light. This triangular piece is worked from the narrow end to the wide end using alternating star-stitch and slipped-stitch patterns.

Finished Size 68¾“ wide and 33½” tall.
Yarn Ancient Arts Yarns Passion 8 (80% superwash Merino wool, 20% nylon; 437 yd 400 m/4 oz 113 g): Antique (speckled; A), Islands in the Sea (blue; B), and The Softer Side of Linen (white; C), 1 skein each.
Needles Size 4 (3.5 mm): 24” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Tapestry needle.
Gauge 23 sts and 28 rows = 4” in Star Stitch patt.

This triangular shawl is worked back and forth from the narrow end to the wide end. One stitch is increased at the beginning of every right-side row.

Color changes are made at the beginning of wrong-side rows.

Yarns may be carried along the left edge of the shawl and cut only at the end of a section if they will not be used in the next section. When changing color, pick up new color in front of old color.

At the beginning of Rows 1 and 7 of the Slipped Stitch chart, secure the unused yarn along the side by twisting it once around the working yarn.

A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
