This pretty tee is knitted in one piece with a clever construction (top down simultaneous sleeves by Barbara Walker) that gives the look of set-in sleeves without any fiddly seaming.

The yarn is used double stranded, giving a light weight and drapey fabric, ideal for Summer or layering over a blouse in Winter. You could use a single strand of Kid Silk or by Austermann for a warm, light alternative 3 season piece or go for a sport or sock yarn weight as long as you get the right tension (you’ll need less yarn for this option, approx half the yardage shown).

The lace pattern is very stretchy creating an Aline shape after blocking which should be flattering on all body shapes.

Skills required: knit, purl, increasing, decreasing, eyelets/lace, working in the round, working flat, counting rows and stitches, working short rows (wrap and turn method).

You start at the back shoulders, worked flat and separately, cut yarn, pick up stitches for the front shoulders (worked separately), join them with a cast on to form the back of the neck. Once shaping is complete, you pick up sleeve stitches, so that you work top down and knit fronts, back and sleeves at the same time. You will work with several small pieces at the start and you need to pay attention.

Stitch markers are ESSENTIAL, you need to know which part of the garment you are working on as you knit so that your increases and decreases are in the correct place. The neckline can be lowered or lifted to suit your personal style by increasing at the neck edge less or more frequently until you reach your stitch count.
