Anika
This is a very simple, beginner’s vest pattern. This listing is for the vest pattern only, not the vest itself. You will receive download instructions via Etsy after purchase. You cannot download patterns via the Etsy app.
The pattern is a one row repeat and is charted. The vest starts at the bottom, & is worked in one piece until you get to the underarms. The vest is then divided into the two front pieces & the back piece, & the only seam is at the shoulders.
Anika looks good in both solid & multi color versions (photos show both versions), though it is written only for the solid version. In my scrap version shown in the first two photos, I changed colors randomly at the end of the row.
It is designed with 2-4” of positive ease in mind, so you can easily wear this as a layering piece. Spud & Chloe Sweater is a cotton & wool blend, making this a great 3 season vest. The stripey version I’m wearing in the first two photos show 2” of positive ease on the 38” size.
The model wearing the beige vest is wearing the smallest size with zero ease.
Materials:
o Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn, a superwash yarn, 55% wool & 45% organic cotton worsted weight yarn, 3 (3, 4, 5, 5, 5) skeins / 480, (480, 640, 800, 800, 800) yards. If you are going to lengthen the vest then please purchase an additional skein of yarn.
o Buttons, if desired
o 5 mm/ H crochet hook
o scrap of yarn or removable stitch marker
Gauge: 4 pattern repeats = 4.75”.
Finished chest sizes: 33.25” (38”, 42.75”, 50”, 54.75”, 59.5”).
The main stitch pattern uses single crochet, double crochet, and chain stitches. Pattern includes fully written directions and is 7 pages long, including chart, schematic, pattern, & photographs.
I named this vest after my beautiful friend, Anika, who is also my model in some of the photos you see. Her version is made with no ease, wearing the smallest size, & is shown unbuttoned.
Buttons are optional: I do not give directions for making buttonholes, but the stitch is very open, making it easy to add buttons or closure any place you’d like, & simply close through the lace pattern.
Thanks to withbuttons, sueburkitt, MaybeKnitting, merripurdy, redcurlysue, blogstarr, Patriciaelizabeth, rwilliams, soxvixen & 3Catcrochet for their test crocheting skills, to June Gilbank (http://www.planetjune.com) for her tech editing/charting skills, & to Anika Pecyna for being my lovely model!
