This is the third pattern in my Anja collection with a motif inspired by woven rugs and tapestries.
The Anja Cardigan & Vest body is worked from the bottom up. The hem is worked flat and the body is joined to work in the round with a steek panel. Once the body is the desired length, the fronts and back are separated and worked flat with short row shoulder shaping and joined with a Three Needle Bind-off. Stitches are picked up at the armhole for the cardigan sleeves or vest cuffs. Stitches are picked up for the button band and the steek panel is cut open.
The oversized fit and generous V-neck shaping make a cozy layering piece. The colorwork pattern has only a few rows that require catching floats and the symmetry makes it easy to spot a mistake – a great intro for those new to colorwork.

Recommended ease is 6-10” / 15-25.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. Cardigan Sample is in Size 2 on a 5’2” / 157.5 cm tall woman with a 32” / 81.5 cm chest circumference. Vest Sample is in Size 3 on a 5’8” / 172.5 cm tall woman with a 38” / 96.5 cm chest circumference.

Ribbing: US 5 / 3.75 mm
Main: US 7 / 4.5 mm
Colorwork (optional): US 8 / 5.00 mm knitting needles on long circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting (long circular or double pointed needles)
If a different needle size is needed to obtain gauge, go down two US needle size for the ribbing.

17 sts & 22 rows/rnds – 4” / 10 cm on main needles, measured over colorwork and stockinette worked flat and in the round.

Notions
Darning needle, stitch markers, scissors, and scrap yarn or stitch holders. 4-6 buttons. Samples use 15/16” / 2.4 cm buttons.
