Annelise
Annelise ist a reversible shawl dedicated to Anni Albers who was born in 1899 in Berlin as Annelise Fleischmann. She was a German-American textile artist, weaver and graphic designer. During her study at the Bauhaus in Weimar she met Josef Albers in 1925, who was her teacher, and married him in the same year. Both emigrated to the US in 1933.
She is part of Frauen Berlins, Women of Berlin, which is a range of hand-dyed yarns, specially hand-dyed by Sabrina of Das Mondschaf for Antje of Wooltheworld. Antje picked a number of women who inspired her, and she created a special colorway for each of them. The colorway for Anni is a lovely pale olive green.
Anni inspired me to a geometrical shawl with squares in stockinette and reverse stockinette and 2 set of 3 wedges each that change the direction of the shawl. The entire shape looks like the letter U and prevents the shawl dropping off your shoulders. It comes in 2 sizes – size 1 is more a scarf size, as size 2 comes out as a large shawl. So recommend checking the measurements given before choosing your size.
