No Regency wardrobe would be complete without the cropped Spencer jacket. Originally designed for men, it is said to be named for the Earl of Spencer, who favored such coats; but women know a good design when they see it. Though the style may be borrowed from him, the shape is distinctly hers, making this coat as fashionable now as it was then. Worked in a simple stitch to complement the jacket’s simple lines, you can easily crochet this while watching your favorite Austen movie. Buttons are crocheted.
