Fairisle and patterned yoke cardigans never seem to go out of style so are a great choice for a wardrobe perennial that you will reach for again and again. This crochet take on a patterned yoke uses the pattern to naturally increase the yoke within the strong geometric design. Anvard is an easy fit cardigan designed to be fitted at the bust but without further shaping. Instructions are given to adjust fit at bust and arms and to alter lengths of body and sleeve for a different look.

Anvard forms part of the book Everyday Wearables - a collection of eight wardrobe staples with comprehensive instructions and many photo tutorials to help you make garments that fit and flatter.

Pattern is written in standard UK crochet terminology with US translations provided in the abbreviations.

Basic crochet stitches, working in rows, working into sts from previous rows, working in the round, missing stitches, increasing, decreasing.

Construction
Worked seamlessly in one piece from the top down, starting at the neck band. Neck band is worked sideways first, yoke is picked up from neck band. The yoke is increased (mostly in pattern) to the underarm. Body is split from the sleeves. Body is worked. Sleeves are worked directly onto the body. Hem, cuffs and button bands are worked perpendicular to the cardigan and slip stitched as you work. Patch pockets are sewn on if desired.
