My free amigurumi heart pattern is a simple, soft heart that you can make in any yarn weight. Written in BOTH US and UK crochet terms.

You can keep it as a small plush heart, or follow the optional stem instructions, so you can turn it into a crochet heart plant stem. This makes it perfect for popping into a plant pot, because this will make the best handmade surprise for a loved one.

Because the pattern works with any yarn weight, you can easily make hearts in different sizes just by changing your yarn and hook.

For each heart you will need:

Yarn: Approximately 22m oddments of any yarn thickness.
As a guide for double knitting (light worsted) yarn, this is approximately 10-11g.
Or for aran weight (10ply/worsted), this is approximately 14-15g.

Hook: Use hook size smaller than recommended for your yarn:
2.5mm (US C/2) or 3mm (US D/3) for 4ply yarn.
3.5mm (US E/4) for double knitting yarn (light worsted weight).
4mm (US G/6) for aran weight (worsted) yarn.
6mm (US J/10) for chunky (bulky) yarn.
8mm (US M/13) for super chunky (super bulky) yarn.

Wool needle; stitch markers; fibrefill or toy stuffing.

Optional for stem: Long wooden food skewer; fabric glue (or glue gun); florist’s tape.
