Aonori
Aonori is a type of edible seaweed. This pattern mimics the water layers and the air bladders that some seaweeds have to maintain optimal place in the water column.
Notes:
Only one color is used per row.
Slipped stitches are always slipped purlwise with yarn held to the wrong side.
The cables do pull in a little but with the yarn shown it was easily corrected by blocking. One may wish to swatch if wanting a perfect triangle and go up a needle size. The sample is done with the same size.
Gauge and needles:
24 sts/42 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch on US 3 (3.25 mm)
(One may wish to use a size or two larger for the cable parts as the cables can cause it to pull in. The sample was knit with all the same size needle and blocked aggressively.)
Notions:
Stitch markers
Darning needle
Cable needle (optional)
