Apple Slice socks
30% off on checkout with code APPLES until end of Friday 19th September. In the late summer days, a crisp slice of apple from the first harvest is such a lovely reminder that Autumn is just around the corner and cozy knitting season is soon upon us. I wanted to capture that feeling with a pair of socks, recreating a fresh apple slice motif, as a playful, eye-catching design. These Apple Slice Socks are my tribute to the turning of the seasons, when orchards are bursting with fruit and the air begins to feel cooler. It’s the time of year when kitchens are filled with the scent of apples baking, in spiced pies, bubbling crumbles, and warm cakes straight from the oven. Using self-striping/patterning yarn, makes these socks a very fun pair to knit and wear! I imagine wearing these socks, with the apple slices peaking out over the tops of my boots. These socks are simple and fun to knit, with colourwork only on the leg of the sock and then a simple easy to knit, stockinette section for the foot. There are a just a few rounds with 3 colours in one - the seeds and the stem. These stitches can also be duplicate stitched if preferred and a video for how to do this is provded.
Knit from the top down, starting with a ribbed cuff, these socks have a ribbed heel, flap, and gusset with a colourwork section of apple slices on the leg. The toe is finished by grafting stitches together. This pattern uses the magic loop circular needle method (but can be knit with 23cm (9 inch) circulars or DPNs).

Needles
For ribbing and stockinette: 2.25mm (US 1), 80cm (32 inch) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 23cm (9 inch) circular needle as preferred.
For colourwork: 2.5mm (US 1.5), 80cm (32 inch) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 23cm (9 inch) circular needle as preferred.
Important note: Do check your gauge for fitting. Further sizes can be achieved by going up or down needle sizes.
Gauge
34 sts x 44 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for ribbing and stockinette.
34 sts x 36 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for colourwork. (This is the same gauge even though we are using a bigger needle size because for myself and many other knitters, we often knit the colourwork sections tighter than stockinette. Please check your own gauge to see if this works for you).
Notions
Stitch marker, scissors, tape measure, tapestry needle for sewing in ends.
